Thanksgiving and Christmas '09

MERRY CHRISTMAS

We hope everyone had as great of a Christmas as we did.

We kicked off the season by having my parents come up for Thanksgiving . It was my dad's first time coming East Coast in about 30 years, so it was fun for him, and me, to show him Raleigh. The houses and some of the landscape reminded him a lot of home, so it was fun to listen to his stories about growing up (which is huge if you know him) and all the memories he had. Both myself and mom ended up getting sick over Thanksgiving, but that did not stop us from shopping on Black Friday! The hot ticket item this year was a tv from Target for our bedroom. So, David, Mom, Mari Kate, and myself got there at 4 am! David was a trooper and stood in line for the hour in FREEZING weather and then ran through the store to snatch one up for me. We continued our shopping for a couple more hours and then headed home for a much needed nap. The next day we said our goodbyes and they were headed back to Texas.

After Thanksgiving, Aaron had to leave for work for the week and then to Dallas for Kelson's (Erin and Doug's little boy) Baptism, then come back and work all the next week some very long hours. So, needless to say, being 8 months pregnant with a very active 2 year old with no help or break for 2 straight weeks, does not equal fun! We made it through and finished up all our Christmas shopping. We managed to visit Santa and McKenna actually sat on his lap! She told him she wanted blocks and yes he delivered. It has been nice for her to really get into the Santa experience b/c we have been able to play the "put it on your list" or "stop doing that b/c Santa won't bring your blocks" card, however now we aren't really sure what we are going to say, maybe Easter Bunny? She got some wonderful presents from friends and family and we thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts. It was a little sad being away this year from our family, but we had a great time with just the 3 of us and looking forward to the arrival of baby Kara.

Let the countdown begin with 24 more days!
Love to all,
Aaron, Ryan & McKenna
