My baby brother has graduated!
Weekends like this make me so happy we have moved back to Texas! David graduated from high school and it was so awesome to be able to spend the entire weekend with family and not have to worry about catching a flight into town and back out.
The weekend started on a Thursday for us with picking my Aunt Lisa up at the airport and then heading to a Texas Rangers game.
Kara stayed behind with Papa, while McKenna got to come with the big girls! She did so well with the heat (which she hates) and the idea of being outside for a prolonged period of time (which she hates as well because of bugs and sweat!). She didn't complain once and in the 6th inning she turned to us and said "okay I'm ready to go." We talked her into staying 1 more inning and then we booked it. The next day was filled with lots of baking for David's celebration weekend and waiting for more family to come into town. Grandma and Grandpa made it in and about an hour later we were off to the first of 3 graduation events. We were all so proud of David and all of his accomplishments throughout his senior year. He was given the highest honor any Nolan graduate could receive, the Chamanad. He got a standing ovation from all of his classmates and parents in the stands. He then gave a beautiful benediction (that was TONS better than the girl who did the innvocation)!!!
The next day, Saturday, Mike, Steph, and the kids came into town early that morning and everyone took off to Granbury to enjoy a Stumpy's margarita, awesome views of the lake and some great family time.
After that we zoomed back into Fort Worth, ate some dinner then went to the 2nd of 3 events, the baccalaureate. David also spoke at this and got another standing ovation from his class mates (can you tell he is a pretty cool kid and very well liked?) On Sunday was the BIG DAY. We started the day by going to Ol' South (David's favorite place) for brunch and then off to graduation. It was a great ceremony, however the valedictorian's speech was horrible and the principal was VERY long winded!
It was a great weekend and so thankful to be able to spend it with family.
