Easter 2012

The girls playing at the Botanical Gardens, Kara's "happy face"

The girls and their friend Cayson at the Egg hunt
This was the girls first Easter as a Texan and our first year in about 5 years. It was probably the quietest Easter we have had but VERY nice. On Saturday the neighborhood had an egg hunt and it was AWESOME!!! There were tons of eggs for each child to get and NO CRAZY PARENTS. So many times we have gone to egg hunts where there are more parents than children and they are fighting to make sure their child gets tons of 5 cent eggs that are filled with nasty candy, when they could have just gone to the store and bought a bag of good candy for $2. But not this year, both girls got lots of eggs filled with lots of yummy candy for them to enjoy.
That afternoon we went into Fort Worth with the intention of going to the butterfly exhibit at the Botanical Gardens, but all the tickets were sold out for the day. We decided to just walk around the gardens and let the girls run some energy off. They had a good time despite the fact that they didn't get to see the butterflies that they were so excited to see.
The next morning was Easter and the girls woke up to a basket with candy and surprises. Both were really excited but McKenna took home the cake! We got her a fake American Girl doll as a trial run for her birthday. If she played with the fake one then we would break down and buy her a real one for her birthday. Well she LOVES Elizabeth (name McKenna gave her doll). She instantly swooped her up in her arms gave her a huge hug and told her she loved her. She then took my phone set Elizabeth up on the bed took pictures of her then McKenna sat next to her and took a picture of the two of them, then took a video of them lying next to each other and her singing songs to her Elizabeth. Elizabeth now goes everywhere with us, sleeps on her own little pillow in bed with McKenna (however giraffe still gets to snuggle with Mckenna, it will never play 2nd fiddle to anyone), and gets walked around in the stroller often. Kara got a barbie (which she loves barbies) but she was more excited over the lollipop she got in her basket. After the joy of the Easter Bunny we went to church then Grammy, Pappa, Uncle Troy & Uncle David came over for the afternoon and dinner.
All in all it was a great Easter filled with lots of happiness and family. We are so excited that we are back in Texas where we get to share the holidays and ordinary days with our family.
