McKenna turned 4 on October 15 and she couldn't be happier. She tells EVERYONE she meets that she is 4 now and reminds her sister almost daily that she is a big girl now and she is 4 but that Kara is only 1 (for a couple more months, so sad). We didn't throw her a party this year because we were new and haven't really made too many friends, so we invited her friends from down the street to decorate cupcakes and then had a "day-o-fun" instead. We had to be kind of sneaky this year because the community wide garage sale fell on her actual birthday so we had to lie to her and tell her that her birthday was actually Friday! We figure it was a win on her part because she got to celebrate a day early...at least that is how we justified it!!
Her Day-O-Fun:
We have made it a tradition in our house that you get breakfast of your choice in bed for your birthday, so McKenna requested chocolate chip pancakes and eggs with juice. Then we got dress and headed to Fossil Rim park, which is a wildlife park that allowed you to feed exotic animals from your car. She really enjoyed it but got a little afraid of the zebras, as they were pretty food aggressive. After Fossil Rim we headed to Cici's pizza for lunch. She wanted Cici's for lunch and dinner but I can't handle that place more than about once a year so I told her that they were only open for lunch. (I know I sound like a bad mom, but come on do you blame me, twice in one day!) After that we came home and all took long naps, played, then headed to Grumps for burgers(her request). She got to celebrate her birthday with her Grammy and Papa and Aunt Marikate, Grampy and Nana, and her Mom, Dad, and Kara. She had a great time and we made up for all the sneakiness by getting her a Rapunzel costume from the Disney store. If anyone knows me and has ever priced a costume from the Disney store you know this is a big deal for me!!! She LOVED her costume and the hair I made to go along with it. I will post another day her Halloween pics where she dressed up as Rapunzel.
We can't believe how fast she has grown up and how much this little girl can make us so angry one second and then feel so blessed and happy the next. She is such a sweet and loving little girl that makes me so proud to be her mom. I love watching her be a big sister to Kara and be such an independent girl. McKenna and Kara are the best of friends and she really looks out for her little sister. She is always willing to help when it comes to something with Kara and makes sure she stays safe (sometimes a little too safe) in all that they do. She LOVES her dance class and dances around the house daily. She runs and puts her tap shoes on, then helps Kara put hers on and then they dance together on the tile. When they are done with that they put their ballet shoes on, request the Rapunzel song (at last I see the lights) then sing and dance along to the song. When their daddy is home, he becomes Eugene/Flynn, and dances with his princess', it is very cute.
Aaron and I love that we are so close to family now that they can all share in these moments and that the girls get to share these moments with them.
