Life, as always, is never dull around the Moreno house! October was a very interesting month for us. Aaron started the outage which meant that he was working 6 12 hour shifts. To make matters worse he worked from 6 pm to 6 am, which meant
7:30-4: sleep, 4-5: wake up, get dressed, play with the girls, eat, 5pm: leave for work, get home at 7 am.
On his one day off he did the same time of sleep all day schedule, so this meant it was me and the girls from Oct. 1- Nov. 7. It wasn't as bad as I had imagined it going but it was still very tiring and very strenuous. There was a plus in October however, McKenna turned 3!! We had a party for her at the Lollipop shop and the kids got to pick up stuffed animal out and instead of filling it with stuffing they filled it with candy. Nana, Grampy, Julian & Raeyana came up from TX to celebrate with her, which was also fun. They got to stay a little while longer and the 3 cousins ran around playing in what seemed like every park in Raleigh! Towards the end of October of course brought Halloween. The girls and I went to a couple festivals and then to a friends house for some Trick or Treating. We had a great time and it was a great end to the month.
November:
November started out great b/c Aaron was ending his outage schedule and life could get back to normal for us. Well he ended his outage and had a week off for him to get used to a "normal" sleep schedule. We were going to go up to Baltimore, DC, Fredricksburg, etc and then it went south! The last week of the outage I had a gallbladder attack, which led to a couple different dr's appointments, then Kara had an appointment so needless to say we did not go anywhere. Aaron went back to work the following week and all is well right? WRONG! I had to have my gallbladder and a hernia removed on a Friday, but according to my dr not to worry b/c I would be able to lift the girls the next day. HA! Aaron ended up having to take the week of Thanksgiving off b/c I was NOT able to lift the girls. So since we were home we decided to leave on a Tuesday for my cousin Patty's house in Ashburn, VA, to avoid the I-95 traffic on Wednesday. If anyone has ever driven 95, they will know exactly what I am talking about! We got there and had a great time with family. McKenna played all day with her cousins, Kara loved all the attention she was getting and we just loved being able to not have to entertain 24/7. We left on Saturday for home and have been getting ready for Christmas ever since then.
December:
The girls got to meet Santa for the first time this season and McKenna LOVES Santa. She has a list a mile long for him and it seems to be growing by the day. Kara was not so sure about Santa and would only take a picture with him if I was holding her. So we did get the girls picture with Santa, just not as cute as I was hoping. We saw our first snow last night and McKenna of course was so excited. She spent a good part of her time outside catching snowflakes on her tongue, while Kara was bundled up looking at it with a very deep thought type of look. She wasn't so sure what the white stuff was and why it was landing in her eyes and on her clothes. We are looking forward to the rest of the Christmas season and seeing all of our family and friends in a couple weeks!!!
Kara update:
she is pulling up and cruising on everything she can hold onto and walk along. She is very strong willed and will not back down from McKenna if she really wants something. She still goes to bed at 6:30 but wakes up at 5:30 to get some milk and then go back down for about 30-45 more min. Makes for an early morning! She is a mostly happy baby and loves to pull McKenna's hair. She plays well by herself and LOVES to sit and read books. She is getting good at taking object out of something and putting them back in. She knows where her head, eyes, tongue, feet, and hands are. She loves to clap, tell you what a monkey and a car says, and loves to play the spitting game with McKenna. (sticking her tongue out and spitting then laughing so McKenna will start, then they both crack up laughing at each other) She does a really good job of identifying the toy or book I am asking for and with go over to the object and pick it up for me to read or play. All in all she is a great baby and we love her more and more each day.
McKenna:
She loves to play 3 games: Check up (like at the dr), story time, cash register. She will play these games day in and day out if we let her. I can distract her sometimes with a show here or there but she really loves these games. She also has gotten really good at making her letters. She loves to write and draw and make things with her colors, scissors and glue. She loves to trace the letters I make for her and then make a million more on her paper. She is doing really well with Kara and is a great big sister to her.
Hope all is well and can't wait to see everyone at Christmas.
